Character Image looking for a proper one at the moment
Physical Description: Bay color, deep brown/almost black mane and tail. Standing roughly 56inches or between 13.5 and 13.7 hands, or up to 14 depending on how accurate you want to go by a non-standard measurement. No scars yet, deep brown eyes, weighs on a rather lean side of only about 820 pounds. He has the very odd trait of being able to control his nostrils to close them up and actually graze underwater if he needs to.
Personality: Drake is odd, sometimes seeming incredibly lazy and other times energetic almost to an extreme. It comes from his youth when he would spook easily and dash at the slightest movement but he's tried very hard to grow out of it. You can't make new friends if you just up and run away from everything out there right? He has a need to make new friends, even if it's only for a short while. He's at least temporarily on his own without a herd but being a loner just doesn't suit him. Sometimes this could be dangerous as even predators can be a friend or a temporary herd to him, as long as he sees them first and they don't surprise him accidentally or intentionally. He's eager to please those new friends but for some reason, they never seem to be going where he wants to go or some other reason comes up that he doesn't get to stick around with anyone for long yet.
It might seem like a strange thing to some but Drake loves the marshes, the beaches, and rivers over the grasslands. The sights, the smells, the tasty (hey, ask him why he thinks it is) marsh grass or river grass is his favorite meal and to him a perfect place to spend a day. He's grown up and he's learning that he needs to act mature, responsible, and think about his safety but it kind of feels boring to him. He'd much rather play games even if he's the only one playing, which isn't saying much for his actual level of maturity given his age. These quirks of his probably contributed to him ending up without a herd, but deep down, and you have to go REALLY deep, there is a clever cunning mind in that thick skull of his.
History: Drake's youth was spent growing up as the oddball of the herd and many times almost getting left behind whenever they would travel. He can barely remember his proper family, but he did have inherent memories that helped him survive and get along with others especially when nasty weather would roll in. The few members that did seem to like him just called him "sensitive" and meant it in more ways than one usually. He preferred walking on softer ground instead of rocky paths or anything close to that nature and hanging too close to water, even trotting along in streams while others would be dozens of yards away in actual grass. He had managed to keep up for years but around the age of seven this habit of his along with a particularly bad time for the herd due to predators and weather had them moving without him.
It didn't bother him exactly, being on his own. When half the herd used to shove him accidentally or perhaps intentionally and throw their weight around he was typically the little guy that would get tossed around and fall toward the back of the group. Now he didn't have to worry about that but, he did have to learn to adapt for a solo life. No more huddling up with all the others for warmth or to get shelter from the elements, rain he never minded in the first place but wind could still bug him. Honestly the past two years have been quite enlightening to him. He's learned that not all predators are "evil" or dangerous necessarily, that not all "prey" creatures are flowers and sunshine, and that being alone you actually have to let your thoughts remain Your Thoughts. Randomly spouting out whatever comes to mind just doesn't work when you don't have someone you know well enough around to absorb those thoughts... and tends to make you an easier mark for an opportunist. -------------------------------------------
~Sample RP Post ~ Well, I've done this a lot in the past and hope ya still know me Sigurd. Still I'll give it a go to get into character.
Drake found himself wondering why some predators found a need to lurk by water and yet refuse to eat fish. Come on, if you're going to be spending six hours lurking at the edge of some random watering hole that's teeming with aquatic life why not give it a go? Even if you totally suck at fishing it can give you something to do for that time period and when you look like you're fishing instead of hunting, wouldn't that be a perfect excuse to get prey even closer? Let them think you have no interest in that meaty morsel meandering up to get a drink while you're splashing about aiming for a fish? And if you actually catch one hey maybe it's tasty. He knew that some of the aquatic grasses were delicious and in some areas they'd even have a nice salty flavor, no need to go looking for rocks to lick when who knows how many tongues have touched it before. All this coming to mind as he was gracefully trotting along at the edge of a stream contemplating if he wanted to make a trip down to the beach or head up toward the marshes proper. Either one sounded pleasant to him, just a way to spend a few days perhaps, before working on finding an area he could roughly call home for the colder seasons.
